From the Desk of the Principal....

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Friends,

           Welcome to a school where “Academic Excellence” comes first.  Our teachers and staff work diligently to make sure that our children receive the best education possible in order to prepare them to meet the challenges that they must face in our ever changing world.

     Our motto:  “No Excuses – Just Results” has led our school to high honors over the past years.  This school was the first and only school in Calcasieu Parish to receive the State of Louisiana Academic Excellence Award in 1991 for having the highest test scores of any other school in our category in this state.  John J. Johnson Elementary was named a “School of Exemplary Academic Growth” by the Louisiana State Department of Education during the 2001-2002 school year.  We also received a Serious Commitment Quality Award in October 2003 from the Chamber/Southwest Louisiana.  Our pursuit of excellence continues. 

     I am proud to say that we have a well-trained faculty and staff.  We strive to provide workshops and in-services to keep up with the latest educational strategies and trends to enhance student learning.  We want to prepare our students for today’s needs and for meeting the challenges for the future. 

     The summer of 2003 was a historic time for our school.  Upon the completion of our brand new $7 million facility, our school moved to it’s present location.  We have just completed our first year in a wonderful ultra-modern school building.  We are grateful to the voters of Calcasieu Parish for making this possible. 

     We invite and encourage all parents to become more involved in school activities.  We need your support to achieve the academic success and character growth of each child.
